Rambla Catalunya

Rambla Catalunya (55)

Ideal for walking, shopping or having a coffee, Rambla Catalunya runs parallel to Passeig de Gracia from Plaça Catalunya to Diagonal, and has retained all the original charm of its tree-lined central walkway.

At its limits are two of the best loved sculptures in Barcelona, paid for at the time by the people who lived in the street. At the top, next to Diagonal, there is a reclining giraffe named ‘Coqueta’ and at the beginning next to Gran Via a pensive bull called ‘Meditation’. Both were made in 1972 by Josep Granyer, a Barcelona-trained artist who was very influenced by cubism and surrealism.

At the crossroads with Carrers Consell de Cent and Valencia, as well as the Tàpies Foundation, there are a large number of art galleries with permanent and temporary exhibitions by national and international artists.

There are also all kinds of shops, from bookshops, commercial art galleries, and pavement cafés for enjoying a drink while you soak up the atmosphere...and that’s why it is one of the favourite Rambles of the people of Barcelona.
