Mitte District

Mitte District (2)

´Mitte` is German for ´centre`, so if you pass through this area you can be sure to have explored the very heart of Berlin.

In the district of Mitte you will find the majority of the German capital’s most important buildings, making a visit to this area an essential part of any stay.

In 1961 the Wall was erected which divided the city, as well as this neighbourhood. Years later, in 1989, a rehabilitation process was initiated in the area. The restoration work that was carried out gave it a new vitality, transforming it into one of the city’s most bustling and interesting districts.
