Bond Street

Bond Street (40)

Situated in Mayfair, in the heart of the West End, Bond Street is, along with Oxford Street, one of the most important shopping areas in the city. However, unlike Oxford Street, where the big department stores make shopping affordable for all budgets, Bond Street is reserved for luxury and exclusiveness.

It runs parallel with Regent Street, and the avenue is divided into two sections. To the south is Old Bond Street, the layout of which dates back to 1686, while the north section of the street, built in the 18th century, is called, logically, New Bond Street.

Bond Street has traditionally been the home of the shops of the great designers and high fashion houses. Here you will find Prada, Chanel, Gucci and Armani.

It is completed with lots of shops selling luxury items, jewellery, antiques, luxury hotels, perfumeries and art galleries. In this street, for example, you will find the famous Sotheby’s auction house. Since it opened in 1744 it has sold works of art for sums of money that would make more than a few of us go dizzy and faint.

Whether your budget allows you to or otherwise, make sure you visit this magnificent street, full of glamour. You never know, you may see someone famous out shopping.
