Tiffany & Co.

Tiffany & Co. (104)

Undoubtedly, Tiffany is one of the icons of New York. It is where Audrey Hepburn famously had a breakfast bun and coffee while looking at the window of this famous jewellery store. Yes, it was the film "Breakfast at Tiffany's" in 1961, directed by Black Edwards and based on the novel by Truman Capote. While you admire the art deco facade, it is likely that the song "Moon River" by Henry Mancini will come to mind.

Founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany, jewellery store opened in 1837, although not in this location, but at 237 Broadway. After successive moves, always towards the north of Manhattan, in 1940 it ended up where it is now; next to the Trump Tower. By then, it was Louis Comfort Tiffany, son of the founder, who ruled the business. In addition, Louis was a great art deco artist and designed stained glass, enamels and jewellery that launched Tiffany into success and worldwide recognition.

It is a real treat to admire its exquisite windows and, of course, its exclusive designs, many of which are true works of art. As well as the turquoise blue boxes with white tie that Tiffany is famous for, it has the finest gemstones in the world, especially diamonds, of course.

Refined designs and original creations. They are pure art, pure glamor. Perhaps that is why the rich and famous have always chosen Tiffany. From Queen Victoria and the Czar of Russia to the most famous actresses of the world stage such as Kate Winslet, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Angelina Jolie.

The jewellery store is very large; there is even an internal lift access to the six floors. It has everything from a silver baby rattle to the chain with heart so characteristic of the brand. The decor is simple but very luxurious, with great attention to every detail, including the clerks, counters and boxes. You are now facing one of the greatest exponents of New York glamour and one of the most famous and prestigious stores in the world jewellery. How distant its first sale of just $4.98 seems today.
