Halle Saint-Pierre - Musée d’Art Naïf Max Fourny

Halle Saint-Pierre - Musée d’Art Naïf Max Fourny (65)

This pavilion built in 1868 in iron and glass by a pupil of Baltard functioned as the market of Montmartre, until in 1900 the building was divided into two parts: half as a municipal garage and the other half as a gymnasium.

Then in 1986, the architects Charpentier and Valentin transformed the garage into a very special museum centre of brutal, naive and popular contemporary art from different parts of the world: the Musée d’Art Naïf Max Fourny.

As well as its collection of more than 600 works, brought together by the naive painter Max Fourny whose name the museum bears, it is a good idea to go and see its exhibitions, always very diverse and surprising.

You can also take a break from your tough tourist work in its cafeteria, a very pleasant spot for a coffee in an exceptional setting.

And a final recommendation: if you are going to be spending a few days in Paris, check its activities programme because as well as the works of art, they also put on concerts here.
