Everyone has heard so much about Paris. And everyone has a preconceived idea of this grand city, even though they have not visited it. You too probably, am I right? The fact is we all have a friend who has been there, we have seen it lots of times in films and we have heard it named in hundreds of songs.
“Paris, city of love”, “Paris, city of light”, are two descriptions you must have heard. This latter nickname of “the city of light” is because it was the first city to have electric light, which made the rest of the world marvel. Although it could also have a second clearer interpretation, for being a lighthouse city: where the light comes from that the rest of the world follows. At the end of the day, Paris was the birthplace of freedom with the French Revolution, the concept of human rights originated in Paris, some of the main artistic movements started in Paris, and from Paris, every spring, come the latest fashions that are later exported around the world.
And “city of love?” That will depend on your own experience of the city because, clearly, going to Paris does not guarantee everlasting love... but it is true that when you come here, we are all a little more prone to be carried away by this half-bohemian, half-romantic atmosphere that makes this city unique. What we can guarantee you is that the charm of each corner, its monuments, its architecture, its parks and its museums will make you fall in love with Paris.
This city must have something special for 30 million to come each year to wander its streets and boulevards, making it one of the most-visited cities in the world.
You must have heard of the names of its most famous districts, such as Montmartre, Montparnasse, the Latin District, the Champs Élysées or the more recent La Défense. And with each one you will have an associated mental image, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Moulin Rouge or the massive cube of La Défense, to mention just a few.
Now it is time for you to discover the city at your own pace, with your Play & Tour audio guide. Aló! Paris is waiting for you.
