Campo dei Miracoli

Campo dei Miracoli (2)

This monumental area of Campo dei Miracoli, or rather the Piazza dei Miracoli, contains almost all of the significant works of Pisa. On this expansive lawn is the famous Tower of Pisa, as well as other important buildings such as the Duomo, the Baptistery and the Camposanto. For many, this walled area is one of the main centres for Medieval art in the world. For all this and more, this entire area was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987.

Obviously it is the most visited area of Pisa and if you only have a little time, it usually the only stop, although the city beholds many other places of interest. Therefore, it is always brimming with tourists, and the stalls sell souvenirs, ice cream, pizza, t-shirts, batteries, postcards and almost everything one might need or not. You will see that the prices are not exactly cheap. So if you are looking for a special souvenir or something cheaper you will have to delve into the city of Pisa, towards the Arno river, for example.

One thing you will do for sure is take a picture with the tower, right? In addition to posing with the best of your smiles there are plenty of ideas that tourists come up with: holding the tower lest it fall, leaning against it covertly or some put on a mischievous face and try to tilt it further. Anyway, you should spend a few minutes watching other tourists take these photographs. In addition to enjoying the show, it will give you a few ideas for your own original photo.
