It is in the district of Barra de Tijuca where we will find the famous da Barra Olympic Park, home to 14 of the 32 sports locations over an area of more than one square kilometre.

Artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, swimming, diving, fencing ... In this park 16 Olympic sports are carried out, in which all athletes struggle to hang the coveted metals around their necks, to be part of the history of sports and, above all, of the new history that is occurring in the Marvellous City.

Unlike other sites, the Olympic Park has been built from scratch. The famous Sambadrome, which will host the modalities of athletics and archery, or the impressive Maracaná Stadium, the most famous monument in Brazil, have needed extensions or restructuring, such as the Temple of Football, which already went through surgery to accommodate the World Cup in 2014, to become a much more dynamic and modern stadium that does not take away the glory that its name carries.

These da Barra Olympic Park facilities aim to become the Olympic Training Centre, for high-performance athletes, upon completion of the Games. This is how the facilities will have a useful life beyond the events occurring during the month of August. In addition, the Olympic Golf Course will become a public park in order to promote this sport among Rio de Janeiro's population.
